Welcome to the next chapter of Lateral Paradigm. My second album, Waves & Constellations, represents a significant evolution from my debut, Transient Guilt. While my first project explored the immediate weight of the past, this new work is deeply rooted in narrative and is far more lyric-intensive. The initial inspiration for these songs struck me during a recent holiday, as I found myself immersed in a book about Celtic folklore and traditions. I was captivated by the ancient concepts of destiny and the natural world, which led me to craft a series of songs whose lyrics are loosely woven from those folkloric threads.
The album is a cohesive story that explores the delicate balance between fate and free will. It begins with the crushing uncertainty of „Waves of Doubt,“ where one feels overwhelmed by the tides of life. As the tracks progress, we move through the heavy atmospheric weight of „Knot of Fate,“ a direct nod to the Celtic idea that our lives are part of a pre-determined pattern. This overarching connection ensures that every song serves as a step on a journey—from feeling lost in the storm to finding the inner strength to confront the old ways in „Showdown“.
Throughout the album, you’ll find metaphors drawn from the traditions I studied, such as the „Watchman“ observing our lives and the „Silver Spark“ representing the potential for change. The addition of the new track „Strange Stars“ bridges the final gap, depicting a traveler finally finding quiet waters and new skies after a long voyage of guilt. By the time we reach the finale, „Constellations,“ the transformation is complete. We are no longer prisoners of the „ancient scrolls“ but architects who choose which stars will define our path.
Thank you for joining me on this exploration at www.lateralparadigm.com. Whether you are a returning listener from Transient Guilt or discovering my music for the first time, I hope these songs resonate with your own journey through the waves and toward the stars. This album is an invitation to look beyond the „hallowed ground“ of tradition and to sail into your own uncharted future.
